ドラクエ５っていいよねって今でも思う。
幼少期から青年、そして大人と人生の回廊をくるくると疑似体験できる。
英語ではこういうのを”Coming of age story”という。
ちなみにハリーポッターもこの部類に入る。
とはいえ、Canonとして認められているcoming of age storyとなるとちょっと話が違ってくる。CanonといってもパソゲーのCanonでもないし、カメラのCanonでもない。正典の方のCanonだ。いや、パソゲーのCanonでもいいかもしれない。んで、個人的にはここにドラクエ５を入れたいと思っている。もちろん日本の……ではなく、英語圏のところにだ。何故ってビアンカはそっち系の人だと思うから。そして今がそのチャンスかもしれない。

First, the list of great books is thoroughly dominated by DWEM's (dead, white, European males), and the accusation is that women and minorities and non-Western cultural writers have been ignored. Second, there is pressure in the literary community to throw out all standards as the nihilism of the late 20th and early 21st century makes itself felt in the literature departments of the universities. Scholars and professors want to choose the books they like or which reflect their own ideas, without worrying about canonicity. Canonに関してはこんな記述があるように、これまでの体勢に対する憤懣が正面からぶつけられ、いわばその概念が空中分解した直後の状態だといっていい。そんな状態の時にドラクエ５を押し込んでどうなるんだと言われそうだが、むしろそうじゃないと押し込めあｗぺおいｒｙはをい。やっぱりいいものはいいんだから入れたいと思うのが心情というものだろう。

まあ、Canon云々はここらで置いておこう。
